Highlights: Fully Furnished for 2019, Audi's long-wheelbase A8L provides an empirical take on the large sedan. That is not a bad thing -- it is a brawny, understated luxury car packed to the gills with pc chips digitizing the gauge cluster, infotainment program and cottage controllers in a slick, easy-to-use displays.

Our Opinion: Audi's current redesigns, A8 Included, all seem to be focused on a singular goal: Presenting the new as a high tech luxury powerhouse. To wit, the inside of the A8L is almost all liquid crystal from the gauges to the climate controller, touch screens and reconfigurable readouts bathe the occupants in shining info. It seems self-evident, but it is not -- Audi has completed a A great task of earning things comfy from the A8, although the myriad infotainment works remain available and intuitive; some operator would gain from a 30-minute crash course in establishing the different systems to be just to their liking.
Considering all U.S.-bound A8s are all long-wheelbase versions (thus the L), rear-seat legroom is abundant. Surprisingly, despite only a V6 under the hood, the electricity is just as abundant. No, it does not possess the Q-ship torque of an S8 or even AMG Mercedes, but nearly all buyers will probably find it more than sufficient. Similarly, transmission shifts are smooth as well as the chassis' isolation of lumps is spectacular.
That which I find appealing is Audi's semi-autonomous functionality -- specifically the lane maintaining attributes. I have driven multiple automobiles from automakers as disparate as Cadillac and Hyundai who handle lane monitoring better than the S8 I drove past season or that A8L. Audi's system will ping-pong between lane markers a lot for my taste, even when I attempted it in low-speed performance during small traffic jam. It is an odd neglect for a car that has got a lot well-executed technologies, and I guess it will get ironed out in following applications revisions. Just note that if you are a lover of the most recent self-driving gimmicks, then you may be happier elsewhere.
